How to repair the fan motor on a Nissan Qashqai J10

To repair the fan motor on a Nissan Qashqai J10, diagnosis is essential. Before disassembling everything, check fuse F30 (10A) and relay K12/K35. If the fan only works at maximum speed, the problem is almost always the speed regulator (or resistor: available on eBay with code 398234024916 for £17.50, free delivery), not the motor. If it does not work at any speed, the motor may be stuck (also available on eBay with code 178035175177 for £32.62, free delivery). To access the motor, the job is laborious: remove the covers under the steering wheel, the dashboard panel, and the glove compartment. On some models, it is necessary to also disassemble the pedal assembly (4 bolts of 13 mm + 2 screws of the support plate + the brake connector). Once access is cleared, disconnect the white connector, unscrew the fixing screw, and rotate the motor body counterclockwise to extract it. Clean the housing, install the new motor (which includes the impeller and gasket), and reassemble everything in reverse order. If the problem is the regulator, you can replace just that, saving on the cost of the complete motor. After reassembly, test the fan at all speeds.
