To carry out this type of repair, you will need appropriate equipment (for cutting and welding sheet metal) as well as good familiarity with handling it. Once you have identified the section of sheet metal to replace (if necessary, create a cardboard template before removing it), trace the lines along which to cut and proceed using an angle grinder.

With the piece removed (or the previously made template), trace the contours on the new sheet metal, cutting and shaping it appropriately (perform several fitting tests before welding).

Once you are confident with the shape of the new sheet metal, clean and grind the edges along which to weld, first tacking the piece and then proceed with creating the weld bead.
