How to Replace the Battery in a First Generation Nissan Qashqai

In this tutorial, you will learn how to replace the battery in a first generation Nissan Qashqai by following these simple steps: first, get inside the vehicle, turn off the engine, and pull the handbrake. Lift the bonnet and secure it with the prop rod. The battery is located on the right side of the engine compartment. To remove the battery, unscrew the support bar using a 10mm socket to loosen the two securing bolts. Once the bolts are removed, take out the support bar. Disconnect the negative terminal first (do not start with the positive terminal, as the entire vehicle is connected to the negative terminal; this could create dangerous sparks for the car's electrical system); use a 10mm spanner for this. Once the cable is disconnected, keep it well away for safety reasons. After both battery terminals are removed, you can take the battery out of its housing. Scrape the inside of the terminals with sandpaper to remove any white oxide that could cause long-term issues. Apply copper grease to the terminals of the new battery to improve cable contact and limit oxidation. Install the new battery and connect the positive terminal first, followed by the negative.
