How to replace the front shock absorbers of the Nissan Qashqai

To replace the front shock absorbers of the Nissan Qashqai, we start by opening the hood and lifting the front of the car, removing the front wheels; to reach the upper bolts of the shock absorbers, we remove the covers of the windshield wiper nuts, unscrew the nuts of the wiper arms, then remove the wipers; after removing the wipers, we remove the clips holding the plastic frame to the base of the windshield, disconnect the windshield washer tube, unclip the washer pump and move it, slightly loosen the upper nut of the shock absorber with an Allen key and a socket wrench, loosen the 3 upper nuts of the shock absorber by a few turns; now we remove the stabilizer bar link; remove the ABS sensor hose; also remove the brake hose from its housing; unscrew and remove the two screws of the shock absorber bracket and we can finish unscrewing the 3 upper bolts of the shock absorber. After disassembling the shock absorber and placing it on a stable support, compress the spring with a specific tool until the shock absorber is free from the spring; with a wrench and an Allen key, unscrew the shock absorber cup and detach the cup and the bump stop, then we can remove the spring from the shock absorber. Now we take the new shock absorber, unscrew the bar nut, remove the washer and the safety; press the shock absorber rod down to separate the gas from the liquid; place the new shock absorber on a stable support; reassemble the lower spring support on the new shock absorber; install the foam pad; put the new boot in the new cup; reassemble the spring in the new shock absorber; mount the cup lock on the shock absorber bar; be careful to position the base of the spring on the lower spring support; screw the shock absorber bar nut; unscrew the tool compressing the spring, paying attention to its position; place the shock absorber in the car by screwing the 3 upper bolts by a few turns; insert the hub carrier shock absorber support and screw the bolts; reattach the brake and ABS hoses; put the link back in its upper housing by screwing the nut; reassemble the wheels and lower the car; screw all the bolts with a torque wrench (both for the upper and lower shock absorber; reposition the pump; connect the windshield washer fluid tube; reassemble the windshield frame by attaching the plastic clips and finally we can reattach the wiper arms, put back the wiper arm nuts and close the hood. After performing this operation, an additional wheel alignment check may be required.
