Where is the OBDII port located on the Opel Astra F?

The 16-pin connector is located under the dashboard on the driver's side: more specifically, it is found under the small glove compartment, often secured to a plastic bracket or directly to the frame, above or very close to the brake pedal. It is important to know that this is not a standardized OBDII, but a pre-OBDII (or first-generation OBDII), which uses Opel's proprietary protocol, often referred to as "Opel OBD" or "KWP." The physical connector is standardized in shape, but the part numbers used and the communication protocol are therefore different from the OBDII standard, which became mandatory in Europe for gasoline cars from 2001. To read the error codes, a specific reader for Opels of that era is needed.
