How to change the air filter of the Opel Astra G DIY (do it yourself)

To replace the engine air filter on the Opel Astra G, park on a level surface, turn off the engine, and wait for the engine compartment to cool down. Open the hood and locate the air filter box (airbox): it is a plastic container connected to an intake hose. On the Opel Astra G, the airbox can be secured with metal clips or screws (often Torx). Release the clips or unscrew the screws just enough to free the cover. Gently lift the cover without pulling on any wires or hoses: if there is a sensor on the duct (like a mass airflow sensor), avoid forcing it and work with enough space. At this point, remove the old air filter. Before inserting the new one, check that there are no leaves or dirt inside the box: if necessary, remove debris with a clean cloth (it's better to avoid using compressed air directly, as it may push dirt where it shouldn't go). Insert the new filter, ensuring it is oriented correctly and that the seal fits well along the entire perimeter. Close the airbox cover, reattach the clips, or screw the screws back in evenly. Check that the airbox is securely closed and that the intake hose is properly seated: on the Opel Astra G, even a slightly imperfect closure can cause "false" air intake and irregular operation.
