How to Replace the Oil Pressure Sensor on an Opel/Vauxhall Astra H

Let's see how to replace the oil pressure sensor on an Opel Astra H 1.4 16V: this is a common operation often necessary due to annoying oil leaks. It is essential to have a 27 mm socket; the engine must be cold, and unscrew the oil cap to relieve any internal pressure. Unfortunately, the sensor is located in a rather inconvenient position, at the bottom on the right side of the engine. It is screwed directly into the engine block, very close to the oil filter, which is also the main obstacle that often needs to be at least loosened to access the sensor. The sensor has an electrical connector attached to a hexagonal nut-shaped metal element (which is the pressure switch). Disconnect the electrical connector, loosen the oil filter (place a bowl underneath), insert the 27 mm socket onto the sensor to unscrew it, turning it counterclockwise: when fully unscrewed, oil will come out. Clean the mounting seat and install the new sensor, which you can find on auto-doc.it with EAN code 4027816176657 at a price of £5.99 plus £9.95 for delivery. Now you can reassemble all the parts you removed or loosened, starting with the oil filter (this is a good opportunity to change it); reconnect the electrical connector of the sensor, check the oil level, as some may have spilled during the operation. Start the engine and check for any leaks.
