Remove the gear knob. On the Meriva A, the knob is often glued or secured with a metal ring. Try to twist and pull upwards: if it doesn't come off, use a plastic tool as a lever between the knob and gaiter to avoid damaging the plastic. In some models, there is a hose clamp under the knob: loosen it with pliers. Disconnect the old gaiter from the base of the stick. The gaiter is secured with a retaining ring or a metal clip on the body of the lever. Release the clip or ring, then pull the gaiter upwards until it is completely free. Now install the new gaiter by inserting it from the bottom upwards, secure it at the base, replace the retaining ring, and then reassemble the panel, pushing it down until you hear it click into place. Check the movement by trying to engage all gears, and you're done.
