How to change the air filter of the Opel Astra J

On the Opel Astra J, the engine air filter is located in the filter box in the engine compartment, connected to the intake duct. Work with the engine off and cold to avoid burns and not stress hoses and plastics. Open the bonnet and locate the air filter box. To open it, free the intake duct by loosening the clamp and moving it just enough to access the cover. If there is a connector or wiring nearby, avoid putting it under tension while moving the tube and clips. Then unlock the clips or screws of the cover, lift it without forcing, and expose the filter. Extract the used filter with a controlled movement and check the inside of the box: if you find dust or debris, gently clean the housing without pushing dirt towards the duct. Insert the new filter in the same position, ensuring it sits correctly all around and does not remain out of place. Close the cover, reposition the intake duct, and tighten the clamp securely. Finally, check that the cover is well closed, that the duct has no play, and that there are no unusual air leaks. Start the engine and listen for a few seconds: if you do not hear hissing or irregular noises from the intake area, the job is complete.
