Replacing the Remote Key Battery

Model: Vauxhall Astra Astra G - Years 1998-2006

The first operation is to separate the mechanical key from the remote: on the back (where there are no buttons) is a small slot where the key's fixing tab to the remote is located; pressing with a small screwdriver will release it (be very careful as the transponder capsule is located inside the plastic support of the key).
At this point, open the two halves of the remote by prying along the seam: one half contains the remote circuit and the other the battery housed in its support; then extract the battery from the support, clean the contacts thoroughly, and replace the battery, ensuring correct polarity.
Close the halves and reattach the mechanical key.
