Removal of Driver's Airbag on Opel Astra J

Model: Vauxhall Astra Astra J - Years 2009-2016

Before proceeding with the removal of the airbag, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to avoid error memory and warning lights. Rotate the steering wheel to access the slots behind the spokes, then insert a Torx key or a small screwdriver to press the airbag retaining springs towards the centre of the steering wheel. While applying pressure on the springs, keep the airbag tensioned outwards to facilitate release. Once the airbag is detached from the steering wheel, first remove the safety from the detonator connector, then disconnect the connector itself. Complete the steering wheel removal by unscrewing the securing pin, marking the centring reference.
