Instructions for Closing the EGR Valve

The function of the EGR valve is to reintroduce a portion of the exhaust gases into the intake to repeat combustion and reduce some pollutants. The passage of exhaust gases through the intake ducts via the EGR valve leads to clogging over time, as along with the fumes come particles of unburned diesel and oil; this clogging of the intake ducts can obviously compromise engine performance. One solution is to prevent exhaust gases from reaching the intake by inserting a plug upstream, that is, at the flange connecting the exhaust manifold to the EGR valve: before applying the plug, it is advisable to thoroughly clean the intake duct and consider the possibility of disabling the EGR control by reprogramming the engine management ECU.
