How to Replace the Water Pump on an Opel Astra

Replacing the water pump on an Opel Astra is a fairly simple task that can be done independently with a bit of patience. Start the disassembly procedure by lifting the car and removing the front right wheel. Continue by removing the wheel arch liner and the undertray of the car. Using a belt tensioner spanner, remove the timing belt and the main pulley, as the pump is located behind it. Once the pulley is removed, open the radiator tap to drain the coolant. Now, remove the five bolts securing the pump and proceed with the replacement. Begin reassembling the various parts removed earlier and then lower the vehicle back to the ground. Conclude the operation by filling the reservoir with the new coolant.
