How to Replace the Rear Shock Absorbers on an Opel Astra

In this video tutorial, see how to replace the rear shock absorbers on an Opel Astra by following some essential steps: first, get into the vehicle, turn off the engine, and pull the handbrake; loosen the bolts of the rear wheel without fully unscrewing them; lift the rear of the car with a hydraulic jack and place safety stands under the vehicle; continue to unscrew the rear wheel, then remove the wheel. After removing the wheel, before unscrewing the shock absorber mounting bolts, place the jack under the vehicle (rear) and lift it slightly to support the axle from underneath and compress the spring. There are two bolts to unscrew, so start with the lower bolt (using a socket and a 20 mm socket), while for the upper bolt, you will need an 18 mm socket. Once the bolts are removed, you can take out the rear shock absorber and proceed with the replacement. To fit the new shock absorber, insert it as it was removed, align the hole properly, insert the bolts, and start tightening the upper bolt first, then the lower one (if the bolt does not fit, slightly raise or lower with the hydraulic jack). Refit the wheel and lower the vehicle.
