The Opel 1.6 CDTI Engine

Take a look at the engine of the Opel CDTI. At the front, you will find the turbo. On the right side, there is the air filter box with the air pipe, very close to the compressor, which immediately directs air to the intercooler located at the front. Below, there is the variable geometry. What stands out is the turbocharger closely attached to the cylinder head. Next, you can see the large EGR valve, which helps reduce exhaust gas temperatures. Beside it, there is a large control unit managing all the electronics, and next to it is the fuse box (the battery is located in the boot). On the right side of the intake manifold, there is an electronic actuator controlling the airflow. Above, you will see the rail that supplies pressure to the injectors, followed by a sensor that analyses the boost to manage the correct fuel mixture. The injectors have been soundproofed to eliminate the annoying noise they would produce. This engine is equipped with a chain, along with the auxiliary drive belt. Below the rail, there is also the rail pressure sensor, which informs the control unit of the pressure; additional modules were once fitted here, which falsified the rail's output, making the control unit believe the pressure was lower, causing it to increase the pressure and improve performance.
