How to Change the Front Brake Pads on Peugeot 308

Here’s how to change the front brake pads on a Peugeot 308: open the bonnet and unscrew the cap of the brake fluid reservoir, lift the front of the vehicle and support it on two axle stands, and remove the front wheels. Insert a flat screwdriver into the caliper slot and push the piston back to create space for the thicker new pads. Using a socket wrench, unscrew the bolts that secure the caliper to its bracket; disconnect the brake hose (without unscrewing the brake fluid line). Remove the caliper and hang it from a spring of the shock absorber with a wire to avoid stressing the brake hose. Remove the old pads, clean the bracket with a wire brush to remove rust, lubricate the back of the pads (the part that contacts the piston) with copper grease; fit new retaining clips, reassemble and tighten the caliper bolts with a torque wrench to the specified torque, using new bolts, and reconnect the hose. Repeat on the other side. Refit the wheels, lower the vehicle, and screw the cap of the brake fluid reservoir back on.
