How to Change the Rear Shock Absorbers on the Peugeot 208

On the Peugeot 208, replacing the rear shock absorbers is done by working on the rear axle with the car raised and securely supported. After loosening the bolts and removing the rear wheel, expose the shock absorber with its two mounting points: the lower one on the axle and the upper one at the top of the wheel arch. To prevent the rear axle from becoming tense while unscrewing the bolts, support the rear axle with a jack so that the shock absorber can be released without 'pulling' or forcing. At this point, work first on the lower mount with a socket and lever, then move to the upper mount, accessible from the wheel arch through the access cap. Once both points are freed, remove the old shock absorber. Before fitting the replacement, compare the new shock absorber with the removed one on the Peugeot 208 and position it in the same orientation. Insert the upper part into place, then realign the lower part using the jack under the axle until the holes align, allowing the bolt to enter without needing to push or bend anything. Once everything is secured, replace the access cap, remount the wheel, and complete the tightening with the car supported.
