Steering Column Joint Disassembly

Model: Peugeot 206 MK 1 - Years 1998-2012

The steering wheel is connected to the steering box via a shaft (usually telescopic) equipped with two universal joints at either end. To disassemble it, first remove the safety tab located at the base of the universal joint connected to the pinion of the steering box. Once the tab is removed, unscrew the fastening pin of the joint and slide it out of its seat by pulling it backwards. After extracting the joint, take care not to let the steering wheel spin freely, as this could damage the airbag ribbon. Proceed in reverse for installation by inserting the joint, tightening the pin, and finally applying the safety tab.
