Peugeot 208 - Video tutorial

Model: Peugeot 208 UW, UP, UJ, UB, MK 2 - Years 2019-2024
Part: Shock absorbers
Operation: How to install sports springs on a Peugeot 208

In this video, we see how to install lowered sport springs on a Peugeot 208: first, we need to remove the wheels and start disassembling the shock absorber, disconnecting it from other suspension components such as the strut and stabilizer bar link. We will completely remove the shock absorber from its housing to remove the stock spring. On the back, the spring is separated from the shock absorber, making the job easier. In the case of our Peugeot, there is a rubber grommet at the bottom of the spring, but this is not always present. Sport springs can generate a lot of noise, so it is recommended to cover the last coil with rubber tubing. To secure the top cap, never use a screwdriver, but a simple wrench. The result is increased stiffness compared to the original springs. The shock absorber remains original, of standard height, the only thing that has changed is the spring, which has lowered the car by about 40 mm. Greater lowering requires replacing the shock absorber shaft with a shorter one.

First of all we open the front door, on the driver's side, and start pulling the opening lever of the engine hood, in order to open the lock; then let's move to the front of the vehicle and unhook the tab that we find on the central part, above the manufacturer's emblem, as shown in the video. At this point we block the bonnet with the lateral rod; then we accompany the bonnet down to close it again!
