How to Remove the Rear Bumper of a Porsche 996

Start by lifting the vehicle and removing the rear wheels. To remove the rear bumper of a Porsche 996, begin with the small screws hidden in the license plate holder, under a cover. Once you remove the cover, it reveals another screw that needs to be taken out. Be careful with the license plate lights to avoid damaging the wires. Now remove the four screws that secure the bumper at the top: next, check for the lower screws by accessing from the fender where you will find one, two directly beneath the bumper on the fender side, two more under the bumper - let's say under the license plate - and three on the opposite fender side. When you unscrew the screws on the upper side, be cautious of the trim covering the trunk. You will also need to remove the light assemblies to avoid damage: there are only four screws, and this will prevent bigger issues. Now you can reposition the new bumper, remembering to place the light assemblies before securing the bumper.
