What to do if we have made the mistake of refueling our Renault Megane diesel with petrol? The first thing to do is not to start the car; and if we have already started the engine, turn it off immediately: The tank is a closed system, and if we don't run the engine, what is inside it won't expand. So the idea of emptying the tank - even with a hand pump - is the right one. The tank is located under the rear seat. We put the tube at the pump outlet and we suck. Of course, the pump will then have to be thoroughly cleaned, or replaced: provided that we haven't started the engine, otherwise a visit to the workshop is necessary, to check that there have been no other damages.
