What could be the reason for the presence of oil in the coolant of a Renault Megane II?

This problem can be caused by a crack in the engine cylinder head, which can create a passage between the oil and coolant circuits; or by a faulty heat exchanger that cools the engine oil. If this component fails, the oil can end up in the coolant.
