How to change the engine oil and filter on a Renault Megane III petrol.

Let's see how to change the engine oil and filter on a Renault Megane III: first, we heat the oil slightly, then we lift the car with a jack and secure it on two jack stands: never rely solely on the jack! We get under the car and identify the oil pan, where we will find the drain plug, which we will remove. Let the used oil drain into a container. The filter has different positions depending on the type of engine: on the 1.4 and 1.6 16V naturally aspirated engines, it is accessible from the engine compartment, near the timing belt (it is a metal cartridge filter with a screw attachment) and can be easily changed from above. For the 2.0 and TCe turbo engines, however, you need to work from below: it is located near the oil pan (it is a paper cartridge filter in a plastic housing). Remove it, then lubricate the rubber gasket of the new filter; it is not necessary to fill the filter with oil before installation. Now we replace the drain plug and put a new gasket on the oil pan. Set aside the old oil and filter; we will dispose of them at an authorized center: the environment will thank us. Lower the car, unscrew the oil cap, and pour in 90% of the amount of oil specified in the owner’s manual. Check the level and then top off, checking again until it reaches just below the maximum level (which should never be exceeded).
