How to replace the timing belt on a Renault Megane? Start by lifting the car on a column lift (if necessary, remove the front wheel using a screwdriver to detach the right wheel arch liner). Once these steps are completed: lift the bonnet, remove the engine soundproofing panel and the belt cover. Using a suitable spanner, loosen the tensioner pulley and slide the belt off its seat. After fitting the new belt, use the spanner to tension the tensioner pulley until the belt has the correct tension (remove the pulley). Finally, check the tensioner and the belt itself, and tighten everything with a socket spanner.
