Removing Power Steering Pump from Renault Clio

Model: Renault Clio Clio 2, MK 2 - Years 1998-2005

The second series of the Clio has hydraulic power steering, with a pump driven by a 12-volt direct current electric motor. Continuous operation and the significant strain on this motor cause considerable wear, but it is easy to find just the replacement motor in the aftermarket (the pump generally does not get damaged). This component is located under the front left wheel arch (driver's side). First, loosen the wheel fastening bolts, lift the vehicle, remove the wheel and the wheel arch liner, then disconnect the motor's power connector and the supply and return pipes, taking care to avoid oil spillage. Next, loosen the fastening bolt of the clamp holding the pump in its housing and remove it. At this point, unscrew the four bolts with a 5 mm hex key to disconnect the pump from the motor, being careful with the drive bushing.
