The engine gasket serves to isolate the cylinders from the cooling ducts around them and to separate the oil and cooling ducts to prevent the two streams from mixing. First, check that the engine block has not undergone any deformations and thus clean the surface of the head and the engine block, as well as the seats of the bolts that secure the head cover to the engine block. This will allow you to apply the new gasket to the engine block and replace the head cover over the new gasket, tightening the bolts with a ratchet wrench.
