Replacing the Cylinder Head Gasket

When replacing the cylinder head gasket, it is important to observe a series of precautions: start by checking the flatness of the cylinder head and block surfaces using a straightedge and a feeler gauge. Clean the threads of the head fixing holes using an M 11x1.5 tap, taking care not to let any debris fall into the cylinders. Then position the new head gasket and the cylinder head itself. Use a new set of bolts for the fixing, applying copper grease to the bottom of the thread and just below the head. Tighten the bolts in a cross pattern, using a torque wrench first and then a standard wrench.
