How to Change Engine Oil and Oil Filter

Model: Saab 9 3 MK 2 - Years 2002-2014
Part: Engine oil

This video shows how to change the engine oil and the oil filter on a Saab 9-3. After opening the bonnet, remove the plastic engine cover secured with three screws. Once removed, take off the oil sump plug using a ratchet spanner. While the oil drains into a collection tray, also open the upper sump outlet: this will allow the old oil to flow out more quickly. When the oil has completely drained, refit the plug. Now, let's replace the oil filter: using a ratchet spanner with a 32 mm socket, remove the old filter from above; retrieve the plug and remember to replace the plug's seal (usually included with the new filter). Fit the new filter onto the old plug and, using the previously used ratchet spanner (32 mm), screw the filter back into its housing. Now, using a funnel, pour the new oil into the sump (about 5 or 6 containers of 1/4 litre). Finally, check the oil level with the dipstick. As a last step, do not forget to refit the plastic cover.

Installation of Upgraded Intercooler Radiator with Pipes

Lift the vehicle on suitable axle stands, remove the front wheels, and then the front bumper and grille. Proceed to remove the front headlights; drain the coolant, remove the intercooler radiator and the hoses connecting it to the intake system. Position the new intercooler radiator in the grille, temporarily securing it with cable ties, and mark with a marker the part of the metal that needs to be removed to allow the new hoses to pass through. Cut the marked portion of metal and apply a gasket to the edge. Remove the inner cover of the bumper and position it near the radiator to identify any interfering parts to eliminate: again, apply a gasket to the edge of the cut. Create brackets for securing the new radiator and proceed with the installation of the connecting pipes from the radiator to the intake, shaping and connecting them appropriately. Finally, reassemble the bumper, headlights, and grille.
