How the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System Works on the Skoda Slavia

The Skoda Slavia uses an indirect monitoring system, so it does not have dedicated pressure sensors in the tyres, but uses the existing ABS sensors on the car, which measure the rotation speed of each wheel. An under-inflated tyre has a smaller diameter than a properly inflated one; consequently, to cover the same distance, it must rotate faster than the other wheels. The ABS/ESP control unit constantly monitors the rotation speed of all four wheels, and if it detects that one is rotating faster than the others, it deduces that it has lost pressure, triggering a warning light on the dashboard. The system is autonomous but requires the owner's input at the time of reset, which is done through the infotainment system by going to the 'vehicle' menu, selecting 'settings', finding the 'tyre pressure monitoring' option, and then 'set', so that the control unit starts monitoring from the new settings.
