How to Replace the Steering Tie Rod End on a Skoda Roomster

If you hear a noise coming from the wheel when turning, possibly accompanied by play in the steering wheel that increases on uneven surfaces, it is likely that the ball joint of the tie rod end (or axial joint) of the steering box is damaged; replacing it is straightforward and by taking some precautions, you might avoid the need for a wheel alignment. Therefore, lift the vehicle and remove the front wheel, unscrew the nut securing the tie rod end to the hub support, and before extracting the pin with the appropriate tool, loosen the lock nut. At this point, complete the disassembly by counting the number of turns needed for removal; then screw in the new tie rod end the same number of turns, secure it to the hub, and tighten the lock nut before refitting the wheel.
