How to Change the Steering Wheel on a Skoda Octavia 2

In this video, learn how to change the steering wheel on your Skoda Fabia 2 (shared with most models of the VAG group). First, disconnect the battery and wait 30 minutes for the airbag system to fully deactivate. Rotate the steering wheel 90° to access the rear clip of the airbag, insert a flat screwdriver into the side slots and push down to unlock the springs. Disconnect the electrical connectors, then use a Torx M12 key to loosen the central screw counterclockwise (which may be secured with thread-lock adhesive). Ensure that the steering wheel and shaft are marked with aligned notches; if not, mark them with a marker. Align the notches of the new steering wheel with those of the shaft, hand-tighten the screw, then torque it with a torque wrench to 50 Nm. Reconnect the electrical connectors and click the airbag back in until you hear a "click". Reconnect the battery. Turn on the ignition: a yellow steering wheel warning light may appear (indicating a steering angle sensor issue; start the engine, turn fully to the right, then fully to the left, return the steering wheel to centre, turn off and then on again. If the light remains on, reset via OBD2).
