To disable traction control on a Smart, turn on the instrument panel by inserting the ignition key into the appropriate slot: once activated, use the buttons located on either side of the instrument panel. Hold them down to deactivate traction control, as indicated by the corresponding light; to reactivate it, simply turn off and then turn on the panel again, causing the light to disappear and the system to reset completely.
