How to Remove the Seat from a Smart Fortwo

Removing the front seat from the Smart? Here’s how to disassemble the seat and reassemble it. Open the car door and access the interior. Move the seat back (using the electric buttons if available) and raise the seat base, then unscrew the securing bolts on the front rail with a socket wrench. Move the seat forward using the adjustment buttons and remove the securing pins from the back of the rail. Disconnect the power connectors for the front seat and remove it from inside the cabin (unscrew the seatbelt bolt). Fit the new seat onto the sliding rails and screw in the securing bolts.
