How to Replace the Heating Radiator of the Smart Fortwo 450

Today, learn how to replace the heating radiator of the Smart Fortwo 450. To access the radiator, you need to remove the entire dashboard. Start by removing the radio from its slot and disconnecting its wiring. Drain the cooling system and disconnect the hoses at both ends of the heating radiator. Once done, get inside the car and remove the climate control controls by unscrewing the upper and lower support screws. Then, remove the centre console. Next, disconnect the steering wheel and the control instrumentation. Work on the upper part of the dashboard to unscrew the top section. Now unscrew the screws of the lower cushion and remove it. Finally, unscrew all the screws that secure the heating block. Once extracted, open the block and take the new radiator, comparing it with the damaged one to ensure compatibility. Then, reassemble the block and, working in reverse order, reassemble everything in the car. Reconnect the coolant hoses and refill the system, ensuring to bleed out any air.
