To remove the steering wheel on a Smart Fortwo 453, start by disconnecting the battery. Remove the central part of the steering wheel (it is clipped in place). Using a Torx key, remove the screw that holds the steering wheel in place (ensure the steering wheel is straight and the wheels are pointing forward). Be careful with the wire connections. Take the new steering wheel, pass the wires through the designated holes, insert it into the central hole, tighten the screw well, connect the connectors correctly, and reinsert the central part of the steering wheel.
