This guide briefly outlines the steps to disable the ESP system or traction control on a Smart Fortwo; it is recommended never to disable the ESP system to avoid compromising driving safety. Get in the vehicle and press and hold the button located to the left of the instrument cluster; then turn the key to position one to switch on the ignition, as shown in the video. At this point, wait about ten seconds with the button pressed until the triangle warning light starts flashing; this way, you will have disabled the ESP!
