How do you turn on the first-generation Smart Fortwo?

Model: Smart Smart 450 - Years 1998-2007
Part: Checks and maintenance

Let's see how to start the Smart Fortwo first and second series. Point the key at the sensor near the central mirror and press the button with the symbol of the open padlock. Insert the key into the ignition lock and put it in neutral, then turn it to the right while simultaneously pressing the brake (which will act as a clutch). There are 3 buttons: auto unlock (open), auto lock (close), and hood release. The gear knob: N=neutral, R=reverse, +/- are for shifting up or down gears. We are talking about the 2005 model with semi-automatic transmission. For starting the engine, nothing changes, but in this model, you have to shift gears even though there is no clutch. The brake is on the left and the accelerator is on the right.

How to Remove the CV Boot on Fiat Panda

Let’s see how to remove the boot from the joint on a Fiat Panda. After positioning your car on a column lift: raise it to a comfortable height to work on, loosen the wheel nuts (using a socket wrench or air drill) and remove the wheel. Begin unscrewing the brake disc bolts with a socket wrench. Remove the bolts located under the disc and completely detach the wheel hub. Pull the arm around the joint with your hands. Fit the new boot (after removing the old one) onto the constant velocity joint, then start reassembling all the parts in reverse order.
