How to Remove the Dashboard of the Smart

Start by unscrewing the screws located at the bottom of the holes on the lower part of the steering column. This will allow you to detach the upper part of the steering column; simply lift it from both outer sides. You can replace just the bulbs as shown in the video; unscrew the affected bulbs, which are held in place by small orange caps. Remove these caps to access the bulb that needs replacing. Alternatively, you can disconnect the green connector to replace the entire unit without issues. That's it!

To perform this operation, it is advisable to disconnect the battery cables to protect any delicate circuits, such as the one controlling the mirror adjustment motor. Now, proceed to remove the triangular panel covering the bolts securing the mirror. To do this, unscrew the bolt located in the designated hole, then disconnect the connector supplying the motor.
