To replace the cabin filter in the Subaru Legacy, loosen the screws securing the glove compartment on the passenger side: it must be opened to access the internal screws. Once these are unscrewed, remove the screws securing the plastics around the glove compartment, which will also need to be removed. This will expose the cover of the filter box, which must be removed to pull out the underlying filter; after replacing the filter, reassemble all previously removed components.
