How to Change the Dipped Beam Bulbs on a Subaru Legacy

Here's how to change the dipped beam bulbs on a Subaru Legacy: you must remove the entire front of the vehicle; otherwise, you won't be able to access the headlight units. It won't be necessary to remove it completely, but at least detach it partially. Remove the eight clips on the top; there will be an equal number on the bottom, plus those from the wheel arch. Once all are removed, lower the bumper, securing it to prevent it from falling. Now you can remove the five screws that hold the headlight unit in place. Once all are removed, you can see all the caps behind the headlight unit. The central one is the dipped beam; release the metal clip and remove the bulb with a quarter turn. Insert the new bulb - remember not to touch it with bare hands. Secure the clip, close the plastic cap, and refit the headlight unit with its screws. Now you can also refit the bumper with its eight upper screws and eight lower screws, plus those from the wheel arch.
