Want to replace the gear knob on a Toyota Corolla? Here's how to disassemble it. Use a plastic lever to detach the leather gaiter: pull the gaiter down from under the knob. Hold the knob in your hands and detach the clamping fork. Remove the knob from the gear stick. For reassembly: take the new knob and slide it onto the stick in the centre console, securing it with the fork. Finally, test the movement of the stick in the centre console to ensure the knob is correctly fitted. Remove the gaiter if it needs replacing after removing the knob.
