How to Replace the Front Headlight of a Toyota Rav4

Model: Toyota Rav 4 MK 3, Xa30 - Years 2006-2013

To replace the headlight on a Toyota Rav4, start by removing the top plastic cover of the headlights by taking off the plastic clips. Once the plastic cover is removed, take off the other clips and cross-head screws, using some lubricant if necessary. At the back of the bumper, remove one clip, take off the splash guard, and find one 10mm bolt. Go to the bottom of the bumper, find the clips and 10mm screws to remove, then pull the bumper off. Once the bumper is removed, you can take out the three 10mm bolts holding the headlight, lift the tabs securing the headlight, and remove it. With the headlight moved, disconnect the bulb connectors, clean them, and remove the bulb holders if the new headlight does not come with them. Take the new headlight, fit the bulb holders/bulbs if necessary, and proceed with reassembly, which is the same procedure as disassembly but in reverse (from reassembling the headlight, reattach the bumper and the top plastic cover). Finally, test the new headlight, and the operation is complete.
