How to programme a new key for the Toyota Highlander?

Model: Toyota Highlander Xu20 - Years 2001-2007

If you still have a working key for your Toyota Highlander, you can programme a new one without spending money at the dealership. Get in the car and leave the driver's door open. Insert and remove the key twice, then close and reopen the door twice as well. Repeat these two steps, but this time insert and remove the key only once instead of twice. Now insert the key again, close the door, and turn on the ignition. Turn it off and remove the key. On the new key, press and hold the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously for 1.5 seconds, then press the lock button only. The programming is complete.
