In a Toyota Auris, the boot lid may become stuck due to a problem with the lock or its mechanism. In this case, you can perform an emergency manual opening by following the procedure shown in this tutorial.

First, go to the rear seat, then operate the indicated lever and fold down the backrest. Next, locate the small panel on the back of the boot lid, open it using a plastic spatula if possible, and lift the lock catch.

At this point, it will be unlocked and you can open the boot lid.
