How to reattach the skin that has come off the car door

In this video, we see how to reattach the skin that has come loose from the door of our older car. Using a tool normally used for cutting wood - used with a light touch - we remove the old glue from the fixed part of the door itself. After removing most of the glue, we then use 800 grit sandpaper to smooth the area well and remove any remaining glue residue. We then vacuum any remaining residue well. As much as possible, we should also remove the remaining glue on the back of the skin, or visible "bumps" will remain once glued. Now we take the putty and apply it, without overdoing it. We spread it with our fingers (covered with gloves), both on the door and on the skin. We wait a few minutes for it to dry a bit and then apply the skin to the door. Then, using the tool with which we removed the glue, we trim to fit the skin inside the body fold. Job done.
