How to Reattach the Trim that has Come Away from the Car Door

This video shows how to reattach the trim that has come away from the door of an older car. Using a tool typically used for scoring wood - applied gently - remove the old glue from the fixed part of the door. Once the bulk of the glue is removed, use 800 grit sandpaper to smooth the area and remove any remaining glue residue.

Vacuum any debris thoroughly. If possible, also remove the residual glue from the back of the trim, or there will be visible "bumps" once it is glued back.

Now take the adhesive and apply it sparingly. Spread it with your fingers (covered with gloves) on both the door and the trim.

Wait a few minutes for it to dry slightly, then apply the trim to the door. Finally, using the tool with which you removed the glue, trim the edges to fit the trim into the body fold.

Job done.
