As we can see, the system is based on a direct current circuit (12V) powered by the car's battery. The brain of the operation is the control switch, while the muscle is the electric motor that operates the lifting/lowering mechanism. The polarity reversal management is handled by a relay (in more complex models by an electronic control with automatic function). A fuse protects the circuit from short circuits and overloads. The fundamental operating concept is the change of polarity applied to the motor. The switch is in the neutral position; no circuit is closed, so no current reaches the motor. When the switch is pressed in the "down" position, we close the switch, the +12 is sent to the motor terminal, the other terminal is connected to ground and the motor rotates in one direction, lowering the window. When we press the switch in the "up" position, we reverse the current flow, the +12 is sent to the motor terminal that was previously grounded, the terminal that was previously at +12 is connected to ground, and the motor rotates in the opposite direction, raising the window.
