How to remove a broken key from the car ignition

To extract a broken key from a car ignition, there are several methods: the most classic is the one shown in the video, using a thin, rigid metal wire (a straightened coat hanger or a very small hand drill bit). Cut long pieces of wire so you can handle them easily; the tip should be straight and smooth. On either side of the ignition cylinder, there are two small holes; these are the access points for the release pins. Insert a wire into each of the two holes: you will feel slight resistance as the wire presses against the safety pin. Push on the pins that hold the cylinder, and while holding the wires, pull the key fragment outwards with your other hand. As soon as the fragment is out enough to grasp, use long-nosed pliers to extract it completely.
