How Does an Oil-Bath Timing Belt Work? Any Issues?

The timing belt (or chain) is a fundamental component of your car. It synchronises the crankshaft with the cylinder head. Normally, in our engines, the rubber belt is dry, while the chain is oil-bath. However, in modern engines, to improve friction and thus performance, oil-bath belts are becoming more common. They do not present particular issues but have many advantages. These are special belts that can withstand up to 150 degrees and the chemical agents in oil. They last much longer than traditional belts and significantly reduce noise, as well as improving performance.

To check the oil level on a Jeep Renegade, you need to open the bonnet to access the components inside the engine bay: on the lower left side of the engine block, you will find the dipstick for checking the level.
