How to Remove Rust from the Bodywork?

Removing rust from small parts of the bodywork is a task you can do yourself and save a few hundred pounds. You will need sandpaper of various grits, primer, body filler such as resin and fibreglass, finer filler, paint, final polish, and of course a dust mask, essential when sanding hazardous materials like this. Start by removing all the rust present with 40-grit sandpaper. Then use the body filler to reconstruct the surface and restore it to its original shape if necessary, ensuring to sand after each application while wearing the mask. As shown in the video, it is advisable to apply masking tape to soften the edges of the primer and not leave them sharp. Apply at least two coats of primer, sanding afterwards with fine sandpaper and water, and proceed with the paint coats, being careful not to overdo it and stopping as soon as the applied paint reaches a coverage level similar to the original. Now all that's left is to apply the polish, again without overdoing it and leaving sharp edges, and then sand one last time with very fine sandpaper and water, or abrasive paste if necessary.
