Associated with SCR technology, AdBlue transforms nitrogen oxides (NOx) emitted by diesel engines into nitrogen and water vapour, which are non-polluting components already present in the atmosphere. Let's see how it works in practice. AdBlue is injected into the exhaust system upstream of the SCR catalyst. Under the effect of heat, urea decomposes, producing ammonia (NH3). Through a chemical reaction with ammonia, the nitrogen oxides (NOx) contained in the exhaust gases from the diesel engine are transformed into nitrogen (N2), an inert gas and the main component of the air we breathe, and water vapour (H2O). AdBlue and SCR are the winning combination for better air quality.
